Climate & environment

Environmental awareness among young people is vital for preserving the Earth. By advocating for sustainable practices and policies, young people can contribute to a healthier planet for current and future generations. By taking action, young people can contribute to sustainable solutions, advocate for renewable energy, and push for policies that mitigate environmental degradation.

Economy & finance

Many young people are affected by the cost of living crisis. Learning how to manage their finances and understanding the economy allows young individuals to shape their financial futures. By participating in economic discussions, they can contribute to inclusive policies, sustainable growth, and reduced inequalities.

Education

Education is a cornerstone of children and young people’s experiences. Young people should feel fully informed to make decisions based on what education choices and funding are available to them. Young people can also contribute to shaping the future of education by sharing feedback about their experiences to inform the future of education in the UK.

Extremism

Extremism embodies a fervent adherence to ideologies or beliefs, often marked by an uncompromising and radical stance. It manifests across various domains, including political, religious, or social spheres, where individuals or groups espouse extreme views, often at the expense of tolerance, rational discourse, and peaceful coexistence.

Gender equality

Campaigning for gender equality empowers young people to create a fair and equitable world. By challenging stereotypes and advocating for gender parity, they can contribute to a society where everyone has equal opportunities.

Global issues

Global issues means matters of public concern worldwide. These could include social issues, environmental issues and economic issues. In many ways global issues interconnect with each other, and learning more about them and how to shape the future can feel very empowering.

LGBTQI+ equality

Supporting LGBTQI+ rights ensures inclusivity and acceptance. Young people can advocate for equality, challenge discrimination, and create environments where everyone, regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity, can live authentically and without fear.

Migration

By staying focused on the facts of migration, young people can understand the complexity of offering protection and what they can do to improve the lives of refugees and others.

Physical & mental health

Young people face health challenges and issues with access to healthcare. Depression, anxiety and other mental health disorders are amongst the leading causes of illness and disabilities for young people Young people can campaign for health and mental health issues so everyone gets the support they need.

Political participation

Meaningful political participation empowers young people to shape their nation’s future and understand what political decisions are being made on their behalf. By participating, they can ensure their voices are heard, contributing to a democratic and accountable society.

Racial equality

Understanding race and racism and campaigning for racial equality fosters a just society. Young people can fight systemic inequalities and champion equal opportunities, learning how to challenge discrimination and work towards dismantling structural barriers impacting the lives of people of colour.

Social justice

Being aware of social justice issues such as the fair distribution of wealth, privileges and opportunities, is a key part of building an equitable and compassionate society. By advocating for fair economic policies and supporting poverty alleviation programs, young people can contribute to building a fairer society.
